Crooked Calypso

Posted on July 25, 2017

It was nice to see Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott reach number one in the album charts this week, even though it is possibly becauses us older folk are more likely to pay for music, whilst our offspring simply nick it. I have been a fan of Heaton's for years (over 30 years actually) partly because of his ability to stick to his roots whilst others have succumbed to money but mainly because of his witty lyrics often featuring sinister tales ...

George Michael Departs to Various Tributes!

Posted on December 26, 2016

I watched with great interest, the responses that flooded in after the death at 53, of pop superstar, George Michael. Perhaps the most accurate  I saw came from a friend (Stephen Fuller) on Facebook. Who was the 5th Member of The Beatles?

Posted on March 10, 2016

As it was announced yesterday morning that the fifth member of The Beatles, George Martin, had died, my first thought was, "Oh that's a shame!" whilst my second was, "Wasn't Pete Best the fifth member of The Beatles?" I racked my brain to try to remember why I had digested such useless and apparently wrong information and I eventually concluded that my source was actually Davenport Nice and Mike Smash, the fictional DJ's from Radio Fab FM, ...
